The Lesson - Short Horror Film

Short Horror Film

A student falls asleep and wakes up in a place that feels familiar, but wrong. The space around him feels distorted, as if he’s crossed into another dimension without realising it.

As he moves through this unfamiliar world, a shadowy figure appears and warns him that he was never meant to be there. Strange writing on the walls hints at what has happened, but nothing is fully explained.

The film ends on an unsettling note, with the faces of his classmates blurred beyond recognition, leaving the audience to question what is real and what isn’t.

PROJECT WITH DESCRIPTION EXAMPLE

This short film was developed on the go, without formal pre-production planning. The focus was on capturing ideas as they evolved, allowing the story and visuals to take shape naturally during filming.

I worked as the camera operator, concentrating on framing, movement, and lighting to help create an unsettling atmosphere. Alongside this, I was responsible for the visual effects, including compositing and subtle distortions used to enhance the feeling of a fractured reality.

The project relied heavily on experimentation, especially in post-production, where visual effects were used to blur faces and manipulate the environment. These choices were made to support the film’s themes of uncertainty and disorientation, reinforcing its unresolved ending.
